Mark Rylance to play The BFG
Veteran stage and screen actor, Mark Rylance, has been cast to play a Big Friendly Giant, in Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The BFG.
Published in 1982, the children’s novel tells the story of a young girl, the Queen of England and the BFG, who set out on an adventure to capture the evil, man-eating giants who have been invading the human world.
Rylance is currently working with Spielberg in his untitled Cold War spy thriller, starring Tom Hanks.
Filming is set to start in early 2015 for a theatrical release on July 1, 2016.
